Kalkani, 2017

Acrylic on canvas

"My name is Chern’ee Sutton and I am a contemporary Indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people from the Mount Isa area in Queensland. This painting is called “Kalkani” which means “eagle” in the Kalkadoon language. This 3D painting is my interpretation of the eagle and her journey through life. The painting is a topographic view of Kalkadoon country as the eagle flies over the lands and waterholes that give life to all that live there". By Chern’ee Sutton
