Biography:
Glory was born in 1948 at Boundary Bore; an area in Utopia, a community located 240 kilometres north east of Alice Springs known for its quality art. She passed away in 2002.
Glory’s brother is the respected artist Motor Car Jim.
Glory was involved in the Batik project of the 1970s, when Western craft practices and traditional Indigenous imagery were combined for the first time. Glory travelled throughout Australia in the 1980s to exhibit a collection of Utopian batiks. In 1994 she travelled to Indonesia to learn more about batik.
The majority of Glory’s works depict bush tucker such as berry, yam or bush plum, or awelye - the ceremonial designs women paint on their bodies during their traditional ceremonies. Glory’s work is characterised by the use of an intricate dotting technique.
Glory was born in approximately 1948 at Boundary Bore in the Utopia region. Sadly, she passed away in 2002. Her country was Arlparra and language was Anmatyerre. She had six children with her late husband, who was Emily Knangwarreyre's first cousin. She was also the younger sister of the late Motor Car Jim.
Glory’s work has featured in a number of group exhibitions and is included in many important private collections.
