Sacha Pula Long, born 1990 is a Utopian artist and young mother. Sacha is the daughter of artist Marcia Turner. She paints in the Northern Territory with a community of Utopian artists. In Sacha’s paintings she illustrates the Dreamtime story of the Arnkerrthe which has been passed down from their father’s country, Atnangkere ‘Moutain Lizard’. More recently, Sacha has been painting ‘Bush Medicine Leaves’ which depicts the Kurrajong trees leaves. These leaves are used in the Utopia region to treat a variety of ailments such as arthritis and infections. The women collect the leaves, dry and mix them with Kangaroo fat, in order to extract the plant's medicinal qualities. The significance of the Kurrajong tree and the part it plays in healing is celebrated in the Women's Awelye ceremonies. Sacha has been inspired by the successful artists within her community. Her mother Marcia has been a source of motivation, along with her extended family.
